Why is my my Dyson animal not full starting?

I’m unable to fully start my Dyson Animal upright vacuum cleaner …there is power to the machine as it makes a slight attempt to start when you turn on the machine , however , it stops very quickly….can make several attempts but the same thing reoccurs …a slight attempt to start but quickly shuts off …what could be the problem here ?
